Creative Closet Conversions
Hidden Office Space
Many people are looking for in home office space, but not everyone can afford to use an entire room for that purpose. Apartment Therapy says this one of the most used closet conversion ideas they see.
This is a common conversion that we see a lot in small apartments. Advantages include a space that’s tailor-made for built-in storage and the ability to close the door on your office at the end of the day.
Just because the office is hidden doesn’t mean it needs to be short on style! You can use wallpaper or paint to create an inviting space. Add a few shelves, one as a desktop and another to store office supplies, and you will be ready to get to work.
Kid Zone
Sometimes children’s rooms have more closet space than their little clothes actually need. Why not turn the extra space into something extra fun?!! Märta shared with Dos Family how she converted a closet at her mother’s house for her niece.
For the bottom shelf she bought an old mattress at a flea market and made a new cover for it. This makes a nice seating place . She used the stuffing out of old pillows to make the cloud-like cushions.
With some cushions or pillows to sit on and shelves for books and toys a spare closet makes a great play area!
Wine Storage
An extra closet near your main living space could easily be converted into wine storage or even a bar area. BuzzFeed has these tips to share:
Install a wine refrigerator in your closet or just stack a few wine racks to store your precious vino. Take it up a notch by either installing countertops or use a marble-topped desk in an irregularly-shaped closet for a modern wet bar. Add two stools so guests can pour, sit, and chat.
Now you are ready to host a fabulous gathering with plenty of drinks on hand!
Reading Nook
What book lover hasn’t dreamed of their own library with floor to ceiling shelves of books? House Logic shares this idea:
Abby Metz, the DIY whiz who pens Do It Yourself Design blog, had three skinny hallway linen closets that weren’t working for her. Meanwhile, she had a bunch of books with no official home. So she converted one of the closets into display shelving.
If you have a bit of walk in space you could add a small chair or cushion to sit on. Now you have your very own reading nook!
